Bonding EVA foam materials in marine environments presents several unique challenges. EVA surfaces are often textured, contain low-surface-energy characteristics, and are exposed to harsh outdoor conditions including heat, humidity, UV radiation, saltwater, and continuous thermal cycling.

Many standard transfer tapes perform well under laboratory conditions but struggle to maintain reliable adhesion in real-world marine applications. Common failure modes include insufficient wet-out, edge lifting, adhesive hardening, and long-term bond degradation.

Celadon developed a marine-grade adhesive transfer tape specifically for EVA decking systems used in boats, yachts, and outdoor recreational products.

The product utilizes an ultra-thick acrylic adhesive system engineered to maximize wet-out performance on textured EVA surfaces. By increasing the effective contact area between adhesive and substrate, stronger and more durable bonding can be achieved.

In addition, the adhesive formulation is optimized for resistance to high temperature, high humidity, and salt-rich environments.
